The workshop
Since 2010, Varan workshops take place in Corsica every year.
The programme
This intensive training program enables participants to get to grips with the fundamentals of documentary filmmaking, and to acquire the first elements of filmmaking autonomy. After a period of technical initiation, analysis of reference works, location scouting and writing, each participant goes on to shoot a short film on a common theme. Editing, supervised by professional editors, also provides an insight into the essential director/editor relationship.
The workshop in Corsica is aimed primarily at people living south of the Loire, in Corsica but also in all the countries of the Mediterranean basin. The working environment allows for a total immersion, conducive to working with and discovering others, as well as strengthening group bonds, to give oneself over entirely to the experience of making a documentary film. The aim for the participants is to build together a rich, sensitive and open representation of Corsica and its inhabitants.
