After studying cinema Paris VII university, Aurélie Ricard became a trainee and assistant editor on feature films by renowned directors such as Louis Malle, Jean-Pierre Melville and Jean Marboeuf. She has edited around ten short fiction films and almost as many feature films, including Le complot d'Aristote by Jean-Pierre Bekolo, Clando by Jean-Marie Teno and Charlotte, dis à ta mère que je l'aime by Ali Borgini with Anna Karina.

Her main interest resides in creative documentaries. She has edited a number of documentary films, including those by Leonardo Di Costanzo, Raoul Peck and Robert Bozzi.

She has been a member of the Ateliers Varan since 1988, and has been involved in training courses in documentary film-making and editing at the Ateliers Varan in Paris and abroad since 1987 (South Africa, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Portugal). She maintains a special link with South Africa and Vietnam and continues to edit films by directors trained by Varan, who are now independent filmmakers, such as Finding Phong by Thao Tran Thi Phuong.

She is also a guest lecturer at the DESS documentary course at Lussas and the Africadoc Masters in Senegal.
