French programmer
Catherine Bizern was a delegate for the documentary directors' association ADDOC from its creation in 1992 until 1997. In 1996, she joined Périphérie in Seine-Saint-Denis, where with Claudine Bories she founded the Rencontres du cinéma documentaire in 1998. From 2006 to 2012, she was the general delegate and artistic director of the EntreVues-Belfort international film festival. Since 2013, she has taken part in various events (Cinéma du Québec in Paris, Le Jour le plus Court, Côté Court) and worked with the Locarno International Film Festival. She has also been active in production since 2000. First with YUMI productions, then with AD LIBITUM. Her credits include André Van in's La vraie histoire du bus 402, Catalina Villar's Welcome to Colombia, Manuela Fresil's Entrée du personnel and Emmanuel Roy's La part du Feu. She currently works with Claudine Bories and Patrice Chagnard, for whom she produced Nous le Peuple. She is also a contributor to the magazine Artpress and has edited several books on cinema, including Documentaire, Manières de faire forme de pensée published by Yellow Now in 2002 and Pratique d'une utopie, utopie de la pratique published in 2019 by Editions de l'oeil. In September 2018, she was appointed General Delegate of the Cinema du Réel festival. Since then she has also been the Artistic Director of the Centre des écritures cinématographiques, at the Moulin d'Andé.
