Career
French film Editor
Born in Paris in 1959, Catherine Rascon began her career as a trainee at the Laboratoire L.T.C. in 1978, then as an assistant at Pathé Cinéma in 1979. Since 1980 she has been a curious freelance editor working on all kinds of media for all kinds of films: feature-length, short, experimental, animation, although mostly creative documentaries.
A member of the Ateliers Varan, she runs Varan workshops in Paris, Venezuela, Portugal and Vietnam. A member of École et Cinéma, she also teaches at La Fémis.
She is a consultant editor for "The Breathless Project" coordinated by Dock Leipzig and IDFF Jihlava and gives master classes and seminars on editing (Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Oxford, Valencia, Le Havre, Toulouse, Nantes and Paris).
She has had the pleasure of working with Stéphane Breton, Claire Simon, Daniele Incalcaterra, André van In, Catalina Villar, Wang Bing, Sergei Loznitsa, Frédéric Laffont and Jean-Pierre Duret, among many others, and hopes to continue practicing her passion for many years to come.
