Career
Director and film editor
After studying literature and history and gaining a post-graduate diploma in documentary filmmaking, Emmanuel Roy began working with the Ateliers Varan in 1999 as a conscientious objector.
Since then he has worked as an editor and made several films: Une journée pour rebondir (2003), Histoires d'œufs (2006), La part du feu (released in 2013), Nos chers paradis (2015), Chant Acier (2016, interactive documentary), How to Make a Ken Loach Film (2016, interactive documentary), Je ne sais pas où vous serez demain (2023).
Simmultaneously, Emmanuel runs various types of film workshops and educational interventions with people from all backgrounds and in different settings: the Ateliers Varan (of which he has been a member since 2014) but also the University of Aix-Marseille, the Anamorphose association and other structures in the Sud-PACA region where he lives.
