Career
French producer
After studying philosophy, Jacques Bidou studied at INSAS (Institut National Supérieur des Arts du Spectacle) in Brussels. For Star Film and then Cyrk S.A., he marketed catalogues of films and television programmes, particularly in Spain. In 1987, he set up his own production company, JBA Production, with which he has produced over 110 films, including many feature films selected at Cannes and other festivals. He has produced films by Rithy Panh, Merzak Allouache, Patricio Guzman, Tsai Ming-Liang, Pablo Agüero and others.
He has been a member of the Ateliers Varan since 1987, worked as an administrator at la Femis film school from 1995 to 2011, and has been an active programmer of the European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs programme for European producers from 1990 to 1999. He has founded and directed EURODOC studies from 1999 to 2013 and DOCMED studies from 2011 to 2013.
