Born in 1970 and trained as a historian, Julie Biro ventured into documentary filmmaking in 2014. Prior to this, she spent twenty years working for NGOs in conflict zones, an experience that deeply influenced her. It was during this time that she developed the desire to make films to share the emotions she experienced. In 2011, she participated in a documentary directing workshop at Ateliers Varan, where she created the short film No name. She has since then directed a feature documentary Return to Visegard and is curently working on a new project: Violette's silence
Today, she both directs documentaries and conducts various film workshops with several organizations such as Belladone, Du Coin de L'œil, and Citoyenneté Jeunesse. Drawing on real-life experiences, archival research, and investigation, she guides different audiences through the process of making a film, blending reality and imagination step by step.
