Career
French producer, director and director of photography
Born in 1947, Richard Copans studied at IDHEC ( La Femis film school) from 1966 to 1968 in the image department. He then became assistant operator to Andréas Winding, Philippe Rousselot, Pierre Lhomme and Yann Le Masson from 1969 to 1976. He was also a member of the Cinélutte collective from 1973 to 1978.
Founder of the production companies Les Films d'ici with Yves Jeanneau and Les Films du passage with Paulo Branco, he has produced more than 200 documentary films, notably by Amos Gitaï, Robert Kramer, Claire Simon, Hervé Leroux, Christian Rouaud, Leonardo di Costanzo, Stan Neumann, Denis Gheerbrant, Anca Hirte and David Teboul.
He produced 67 films for the "Architectures" collection with Arte from 2014 to 2016 and has also directed around fifty documentaries and thirty architectural films.
