Career
French director
After studying arts and literature at the Sorbonne university and studying at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, Sylvaine Dampierre first worked as an editor until 1998. She then movied into documentary filmmaking. She has written 3 fiction screenplays. With Alain Moreau, she created Télé-Rencontres, an in-house television channel at the Paris la Santé prison. She has taught at the Ateliers Varan since 1993, first as an editor and then as a trainer in documentary filmmaking in the Parisian workshops, but also at the ESSAV film school in Marrakech and in Guadeloupe. As head of education and founder of Varan Caraïbe, she has been running training workshops in Guadeloupe in filmmaking, editing, web documentary and sound narration since 2010.
She was a member of the CNC's Audiovisual Innovation Fund - Enhanced Development Committee.
