The workshop
Since 2006, more than 30 young Afghan filmmakers took part to the workshops in Kabul. 33 films were made there and initiated the resurgence of documentary films in the country.
The programme
In 2006, a first documentary filmmaking course took place in partnership with the Kabul Faculty of Fine Arts. It was co-financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kabul CCF, Kabul Goethe Institute, UNESCO and the National Audiovisual Institute. Partnerships were developed with “Radio Television Afghanistan” and “Afghan Films”. Ten trainees, including four women, coming from various ethnic groups and social backgrounds, participated in this experience. Ten films were made. In 2007/2008, a project was carried out with five directors and three editors around a common theme: “The Children of Kabul”.
The films are co produced by Ateliers Varan, La Huit Productions and CineCinema.
