French producer and director
After a master's degree in production at INA SUP, Maël Lê-Hurand started working at France 5 in documentary acquisitions, before moving on to working for various documentary and drama production companies.
In 2016, he opened the production company NORMAL, which produces documentaries, short films, music videos and audiovisual content for brands and institutions. Parallelly, he works as an editor and makes documentaries such as Hadès, la mécanique orange (2011) about the consequences of Agent Orange in Vietnam. Rêves de Septembre (2014) looks back at the student movements in Chile 40 years after the Pinochet dictatorship. In 2020, he directed The Nodey Process, about the artistic quest and identity of composer Nodey. In 2024, he produces a documentary web series on portraits of Japanese craftspeople in France, in collaboration with Tempura magazine.
Maël is also a member of the organisation and selection committee for the Ici Vietnam Festival, which highlights Vietnamese cinema and its diaspora. He has also been an instructor at the Ateliers Varan in Corsica and in Paris since 2021 for documentary filmmaking workshops.
